Project development
The establishment of a plantation is one of the
critical moments within the complete project. In order to anticipate all
factors that influence the development, a thorough development plan is
essential.
It will function as a guide of the whole development
process. Schedules with fixed dates, deadlines, resources, cash flow and
budget calculation, all is included in the development plan, to minimize
the possibilities of unwanted surprises.

The way in which the establishment is executed is of
great importance. In this first year the complete project can be lost if
great attention is not paid to all activities. Intensive control, backed
up with a solid development plan will minimize the risk that negative
factors will present themselves.
In order to present a short but crystal clear report,
the detailed data presented in our reports is supported by many maps, tables and figures.
Along with the conventional reports, DHForest offers to present the
reports on the web as well in an interactive way. To know more about
this service, please

Besides the standard chapters of a report such as
introduction, summary, conclusions, etc. a development plan elaborated
by DHForest consists of the following:
* The amount of consisting infrastructure
(drainages, roads, bridges, etc.) and the infrastructure to be
constructed.
During the elaboration of the development project
DHForest enters the field. During these fieldtrips the area is
analyzed and "on site" design of the infrastructure is
done. This preliminary design is fixed with the help of GPS and
other conventional methods of measuring and finally is entered
into a GIS program called "Mapinfo 4.5 professional". This
program calculates all the convenient information, such as for
example the complete area and/or distance of infrastructure works.

* Work schedules of all activities.
Including for example; infrastructure, planting, the
project in general, etc, this chapter displays the complete
development program. With daily precision, activities are planned
according to the availability of resources. Any delay in the execution
of activities can be noted fast so that appropriate measures can be
taken to minimize or eliminate the problem.
* Resource planning and description
A detailed description of the resources needed is
elaborated, in order to anticipate the amount of personnel and
material that is necessary to develop the project. The resources will
be planned according to the needs of the activities, the planned
timeframe of development and of course to the (financial)
possibilities of the project.
* Seedling requirement and nursery planning.
To be able to plant fluently without any delays, it
is necessary to correctly plan the flow of seedlings. A nursery
planning is made according to the seedling requirement of the planting
activities.
* Activity description
During the development of the project it is of
great importance that the activities are executed conform they are
planned. Not only in speed, but possibly more important, in quality.
To be able to educate, indicate and execute the activities as they are
desired, a detailed description must be available. This description
will also facilitate the control on the development works.
* First year maintenance schedule
As the first maintenance activities are sometimes
intertwined with the final development works, it could be useful to
combine the maintenance of the first year with the development plan.
In this way any delay in development is directly related to the
maintenance activities that follow and recognizing of a possible
problem and finding the solution is easier.
